Have you ordered your free credit report this year?
As mandated by Federal Law, you are entitled to receive a free copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies -- Experian, Equifax and TransUnion -- once each year. This is a great way to help ensure that there are not significant errors reported in your credit history that can adversely affect your ability to establish credit or borrow money when you need to.
Be aware, however, that there are several similarly-named, commercial websites that charge for these same services. In fact, one is called "FreeCreditReport.com" (you may have seen their TV commercials), so it is easily confused with the free site, which is: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp Although this site also offers services for fee, you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY for the basic reports.
